Elthorne Ward Forum A 'Success'

Posted by James Gates on Oct 7, 08 12:05 PM in

The first ward forum for Elthorne was hailed as a success on Monday night.

The forum, held at Elthorne Park High School, drew about 30 attendees who discussed the best ways to spend £40,000 on improvements to the area.

Ward councillor Jonathan Oxley said: "I'm really pleased that we've had a good turnout.

"We've got some new faces here which is good to see but we want to make sure that this is the sort of meeting that people want to come back to. We really want to make sure we engage people's ideas."

The meeting included an update on Elthorne Park, where work is being carried out to replace railings and renovate the bandstand.

There was also a briefing on regeneration work underway in Hanwell town centre, including improvement work to the clock tower and introducing five stop-and-shop parking bays, allowing shoppers to park free for 30 minutes.

The evening ended with suggestions from residents as to what the £40,000 should be spent on.

Among the suggestions were measures to calm traffic flow, brighten the area and a scheme offering local bike hire.

Councillors will take residents suggestions and submit them to cabinet. For more information, email mywardmatters@ealing.gov.uk or call 020 8825 8021.
