Residents Oppose Planning Application
Disgruntled residents in Hanwell are up in arms over a planning application which they say will spoil an area and create traffic chaos.
Developer Frendcastle has submitted a proposal at the site of the Bookers warehouse in Trumpers Way for more than 121 homes - 72 private and 49 affordable - in three residential buildings.
The proposal also includes four industrial units and an underground car park for at least 125 vehicles.
But locals are not happy with the proposal. Sidney George Carter of Olde Hanwell Residents Association said: "We've decided that we are going to oppose the present planning application.
"This proposal is for a conservation area and the buildings are completely out of character with the site."
Mr Carter, who said he represents Osterley Park View Road, added that if approved, the scheme would produce a glut of heavy goods vehicles causing traffic chaos.
Bill Bailey, development manager at Frendcastle said: "This proposal is being considered
by the planning authority, which will consider all the various factors when making a decision.
"It's very hard to say whether something is out of character when it is an area which combines Victorian housing with industrial units. It's very mixed.
"I don't think it's out of character. It's more a question of whether or not it will impact on the local environment.
"As regards traffic and parking, this is a technical issue and as such we are having independent assessments done.
"The benefits of this scheme are that it will tidy up what is presently quite a poor environment and provide much-needed affordable housing."
Mr Bailey said he expects the proposal to go before a planning committee by Christmas.

Of course its out of character to implant a development of this nature overlooking the canal and will be the thin edge of the wedge.
The whole area is Victorian two storey brick terracing and the few industrial parts are to maintain jobs and to help keep the area thriving.
As a longterm resident of Ealing Borough I`m very concerned at the increased pressure due to population growth particularly on Ealing Hospital and the rapidly increasing school class sizes, not to mention overload of buses, trains, and roads.
