Hanwell community centre moves forward

A builder has been chosen to restore a historic public building and create new facilities for the community.

Durkan will transform Hanwell Community Centre in a £2.2 million project which includes urgent repairs to the grade II listed building and the creation of a new learning and development centre.

Ealing Council agreed the contract this week and is planning to move its own training department to the centre from its base at Dickens Yard in Ealing Broadway, which is set for large-scale redevelopment.

Council leader Jason Stacey said: "Hanwell Community Centre is extremely well used but it has been in real need of repair for many years.

Appointing a contractor is a good step forward, but we know this is going to be a long process and one we are undertaking very much in partnership with the centreÕs management committee."

We'd like to hear from you.
