Islamic expo a success
More than 600 people visited an exhibition staged in West Ealing to explore Islam and connect people of different faiths and beliefs.
The three day show at West London Islamic Centre in Brownlow Road included a comprehensive history of the religion, ancient artefacts, transcriptions of the Quran from around the globe and information about how the Muslim world has influenced science, technology and literature.
Guests were given tea and food and guided around the exhibition, which finished on Monday.
Imam Inayatullah said the event was designed to "increase engagement within the local community and help towards fostering a spirit of friendship and understanding."
Project coordinator Imran Hamid(CORR) said: "We just wanted to present some of the lesser known aspects of Islam - it's a very arms-length approach where people who come aren't hounded and can see what it's about themselves.
"Overall it's been received well, it's been very positive and it's given us a very special and rare opportunity to meet local civic leaders of different faiths."
The busy centre is due to undergo an expansion to accommodate more people inside for Friday prayers.
