Dentist nominated for national award
A Hanwell dentist is on the shortlist for the national Asian Women of Achievement award.
Dr Sunita Verma, cosmetic dentist at Sparkle Dental Boutique in Boston Road has been selected in the category for Professional of the Year.
She said: "Dr Verma, who has practised dentistry for 20 years said: '"It feels amazing. I'm so happy to have been nominated, and it's the first time that dentistry has been nominated for in such a category, so I feel like an ambassador."
The 10th Asian Women of Achievement Awards aim to recognise the most inspiring Asian women in the UK.
Founded and chaired by Indian-born author and entrepreneur Pinky Lilani, and held in association with Lloyds TSB, the awards celebrate the contribution that Asian women make to UK's business, public, cultural and political sectors.
Judges this year includes human rights campaigner Shami Chakrabarti - also an award recipient, Dragons' Den entrepeneur James Caan, actress Meera Syal and Sir Nicholas Young, chief executive of the British Red Cross.
The ceremony will be held in London next month.
