CHILDREN in Hanwell were able to enjoy a brand new playscheme which they were consulted on.

The site, which opened earlier this month, was officially opened by Ealing Mayor Ian Green at King Georges Field.

Groundwork London is behind the scheme, working alongside Ealing Council, local supportive funders and the local community.

The area uses tunnels, boulders, trees and grassy mounds combined with popular play equipment such as swings and slides.

Pupils from St Marks primary school were involved throughout the entire process of the new development by contributing their ideas and painting the surrounding hoarding whilst building work took place.

Keith Townsend, Ealing Council executive director for environment and customer Services, said: "This is a great new facility for the local community.

"The play space is fantastic and I'm sure the children of Hanwell will enjoy it.

"Improving facilities to help children to have fun and be more active is really important.

"New, exciting play spaces such as this one give youngsters hours of free enjoyment by incorporating new equipment with the surrounding environment."
