A man was rescued by firefighters and five people were evacuated from a block of flats after a blaze started in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Two fire engines and around ten firefighters were called to the blaze in a three storey building converted into flats on Kirchen Road, West Ealing, just before 6am.

A flat on the ground floor was partly damaged by the fire and a man was treated by The London Ambulance Service at the scene.

The brigade was called at 5:53am and the fire was under control by 6:53am.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
