Hanwell Carnival Queen and Princess search

The search is on to find a special Queen and Princess for the 50th Jubilee celebrations of the Hanwell Carnival.

Competing for the chance to be crowned the Hanwell Carnival Queen and Princess, girls aged 11-17 will also be given John Lewis vouchers worth £50 and £25 and be pampered for the day.

The lucky winners will have their hair done by Angela Bradley at her salon, Angela Francis in Greenford Avenue, Hanwell, their make-up by a professional and have their dresses uniquely designed with the material supplied by Ealing Fabrics in Uxbridge Road, Hanwell.

Runners up will also receive a prize and to enter the competition, Queens must be aged between 15-17 and Princesses aged 11-14 and have the consent of a parent or guardian as well as have a connection with the Hanwell area.

Entrants must include a recent photo and submit no less than 50 words on why they would like to be the Carnival Queen or Princess by the Friday February 26 deadline.

The entries will be judged at the beginning of March by a panel consisting of Colin Chalmers, the Hanwell Carnival Chairman, Paloma Kubiak of the Ealing Gazette, Helen Ryan, fundraising manager for Meadow House Hospice and former carnival Queen, and Angela Bradley, owner of Angela Francis Hair Salon.

Candidates must be available for interview on an evening between Monday March 8 to Friday March 12 or on Saturday March 13.

Winners will be announced on 19th March and must be available for the big event which takes place on Saturday June 19.
