Ealing pupils help put the pieces together

Primary school children had a smashing time as they played a part in designing and creating a larger-than-life mosaic.

The pupils of St John's Primary School in Felix Road, West Ealing, welcomed mosaic artist, David Bowers, to their school to help them create a two by two metre mosaic.

Key Stage Two pupils walked around the playground picking out the best parts of the school such as the trees and squirrels and decided to incorporate this with the school logo of children holding hands around the world.

Mr Bowers smashed up tiles and then the children placed the pieces together to make up the big picture which promotes the school ethos of 'achieving together'.

Head teacher Marilyn Borlase, said: "The children had a wonderful time working together with David.

"Working together is the central theme of the logo and a key to success at St. John's"
"The final design promotes the ethos of the school 'Achieving Together' and reflects children's experiences and enjoyment of school."

The completed design will be displayed outside the school.
