Laughter keeps coming at Ealing Comedy Festival

THE MAIN tent was filled with laughs as Ealing Comedy Festival got under way on Friday.

The six top-class acts packed in their side-splitting routines with their different styles ensuring there was something for everyone with a sense of humour.

Henning Wehn, the self-styled German comedy ambassador to the UK played on cultural stereotypes before Ian Stone told the crowd about his trip to entertain the troops in Afghanistan (apparently the Taliban are a tough crowd). Next came Stewart Francis's deadpan, fast one-liners and the comedy ditties of Steve Gribbin. The laid back style of Tom Stade kept the laughter coming before headliner Ed Byrne's observational comedy absolutely made sure the audience felt the cash they had shelled out on their tickets was money well spent. MC Mickey Hutton's jokes, mainly about the North/South divide, kept the comedy flowing between acts.

It is the 18th comedy festival, held in Walpole park, Ealing.

Seats are still available for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights but anyone interested must be quick because they are selling out fast.

Entrance costs £16 plus booking fees, call 0871 620 4016 to buy a ticket or visit www.ealing.gov.uk/ealingsummer to finds out more.
