Youngsters organised a fun family day out to raise awareness of living in an environmentally friendly lifestyle and hundreds turned out for the event.

The Youth Task Force, a group of eight to 15-year-olds with the help of A2 Dominion's Community Involvement Team, held the event at Trailfinders Sports Club in Ealing on Saturday.

During the day, there was plenty to do and see, including an exhibition of artwork from recycled materials, football training sessions, street dance workshops, adult gardening activities, egg and spoon race, gladiator duals and a free barbecue.

Lorna Anderson, A2Dominion's Director of Customer Services, said: "The Youth Task Force organised a fantastic event, and we've had brilliant feedback from those who came along.

"There was a great choice of activities to suit people of all ages, from face painting and a bouncy castle for children, to arts and crafts exhibitions and information and advice about training and employment opportunities for adults."

The event, organised especially for A2 Dominion residents, also gave people the opportunity to learn about volunteering, training and employment opportunities for the 2012 Olympic Games.

Ealing's Environment Cabinet Member Cllr Bassam Mahfouz, said; "Young people are passionate about the environment and it showed through the enthusiasm on their faces.

"Linking issues such as recycling with fun activities for young people alongside vital advice for parents is innovative and I'd like to see more events like this in future."
