West Ealing charity's surprise at ã2,000 mystery donation
Charity shop workers were amazed to find ã2,000 stuffed into an unmarked envelope which had been pushed through the letterbox.
Ann Ford, store manager of PDSA in West Ealing, was astonished to find the bundle of cash inside the brown envelope on Friday morning as she prepared to open up the shop.
She said: "I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw what was in the envelope.
"It was all in ã20 notes, and I was amazed when I realised how much we'd been given.
"We're extremely grateful to the person who donated this money and would like to say a huge thank you.
"PDSA relies on the generosity of animal lovers to fund its vital veterinary services, and we hope our message of gratitude for this generous gift reaches our mystery donor."
The envelope was put through the letterbox sometime on Thursday evening through to the early hours of Friday morning.
Teri Austin, assistant manager of PDSA, said: "When they opened the envelope, they didn't realise how much money was inside.
"It's quite amazing that someone felt the need to give back to society in such a big way.
"Usually when we receive donations, people often ask for a receipt but there are no clues as to who donated this amount of money.
"They obviously think PDSA is a worthwhile charity and this money will do a lot of good helping to treat sick animals and to help people who can't afford to get their pet treated."
